Who reviews our content
Clinical content is reviewed by the relevant head of department or another appropriately qualified clinician with experience in the subject covered. Reviewer names and current qualifications are listed below and should match the APARC Clinical Team directory.

What reviewers check
- That clinical statements are accurate and reflect current practice
- That claims are supported by cited evidence, and that citations are real and correctly represented
- That no outcome, recovery time or success rate is presented as a promise
- That individual variation is acknowledged
- That red-flag and emergency guidance is present where a reader could come to harm by delaying medical care
- That the page does not describe a service, technique or technology APARC does not provide
How often content is reviewed
Each reviewed page shows the name of its reviewer and the date of the last review. Content is re-reviewed when:
- the clinical content of the page changes materially, or
- relevant guidance or evidence changes, or
- at routine review, and at least every 24 months
Our evidence standards
Where we make a clinical claim we cite a primary source — peer-reviewed research, a systematic review, or guidance from a recognised body such as NICE, Cochrane or the World Health Organization. We do not cite sources we have not checked.
What we will not publish
- Success rates, recovery percentages or patient-outcome statistics presented as marketing claims
- Guarantees about recovery, timelines or results
- Claims about qualifications, registrations, accreditations or partnerships that we cannot evidence
- Claims that a service or technology is available at a centre where it is not
